honestly, it's a good idea to collect a few free players (rather than pay for any one) as some streaming apk's work better with other players.

am using CloudsPal sub with a firestick ( smarters iptv app ) with no issues , i do not have any vpn and i love the EPG how it is displayed . There is also STB-EMU a good option
Try to fix the epg issue. I've found nothing plays as well as Perfect Player on Android (cf. Tivimate)
One little-known tip is in Perfect Player, on the channel settings menu, go over to the two-arrow button (EPG refresh button, second from the right) and press Down instead of Select. It forces a complete refresh and may fix your EPG issue

They all suck really, better off with an android box meant for IPTV that comes with a player like a Dreamlink or Formuler.
