What TV is are you using? There are many vpn apps in most of the TV app stores.

Change supplier like beams tv for UK stuff. Or windscribe has a free VPN plan you get 10 gig I think but that should cover the fotty each month
Use ProtonVPN. It's free. Connect to it when you are watching IPTV.
Another option is to use a Raspberry Pi and create a router on a stick setup, which can tunnel traffic through a VPN provider.
The easiest option would be a firestick as already mentioned though.
You can also install vpn on your pc and connect your smart tv to the pc hotspot
If you are in the UK, Its likely that you will need a VPN. Yes, its reasonably common.
