Market Research. EPG, M3U

by towelfox

Just a quick question. I'm a web dev looking for a new project. Would there be any interest in a service that allows for on the fly m3u management and auto EPG generation?

Provisional proposal:

User inputs existing m3u file. System checks tvg-id's against known database and renames appropriately, offers sensible auto-grouping (can be managed by user) Allows user to select wanted/unwanted channels. Allows re-ordering. System outputs new m3u and epg via secure link.

Concerns: User needs to input m3u containing their links. I'd look to store as if password.

Revenue: Free to use. Ad supported (on site- not in your EPG :>). Possible premium benefits.

If this already exists in perfect form tell me and save my time... If you'd use it, I'll build it.

Thanks!

I'd agree with the other comments. It exists but the current options aren't great.

One of my personal biggest pet peeves with IPTV that doesn't seem like it should be overly difficult to solve is inaccurate EPG (TV guide) data. Even when using xtream editor its very hit and miss. I'd gladly pay for an additional service offering reliable and accurate EPG data.

Quick search for "m3u" in this sub brings up the following services/code only mentioned in the past month or so.

https://xtream-editor.com/

https://www.iptv-epg.com/

https://m3u4u.com/

Worth mentioning this scraper too as i believe (with zero supporting evidence) that all these services use it as their EPG source http://www.webgrabplus.com/

I'd definitely use this. Would pay for premium also. Two already exist that I know of but neither are great in my opinion.

Sounds like a good idea to me, there are already a couple of options out there but as already said, neither are all that amazing so the idea of another option sounds good.

Also, look into iptv-epg.com . That's what I use and serves my purpose. I can manage and modify my m3u file and it also provides a customized EPG based on my specific m3u modifications.
