Buy a streaming device/box or use a windows 10 pc?

Not sure which route to go here... should I buy a streaming device or use a windows 10 pc.

**this is an extra computer I have in the home that doesn’t really get used. So it’s either sell it or utilize it as an IPTV stream machine for my father so he can watch Portuguese soccer

PC Specs

Intel Core i5-3570 Quad-Core 3.4 GHz

MSI Gaming GeForce GT 710 2GB GDRR3 64-bit HDCP Support DirectX 12 OpenGL 4.5

8Gb RAM DDR3-1333MHz

SSD 60Gb King Dian

I would also be using a wired connection

IPTV on a PC has options, but nothing like a STB or even a firestick.

Really depends on where you plan to watch IPTV mostly.

In my case, I never watch IPTV on a PC unless I'm at work, and only because I don't have a TV at work. I use a 4k firestick at home. The ease of use and a remote make the experience much better.

You can get a remote for the PC and use "Media Center" software like Kodi to somewhat emulate what a STB/Stick will do. Many of the native Android apps for IPTV have a add-on for Kodi. Once you get out of Kodi however, you will/may need a mouse. I still have my HTPC close to my TV but mostly use my 4k firestick, so I have both. I use a wireless mouse and keyboard for my HTPC from my couch when I use it, but again, have not powered it up in a while. It is a slightly older Sony Vaio laptop with HDMI out and I use a wired ethernet connection. OS is Windows 7 although that does not matter much. There are better audio options on the HTPC than the STB/Stick, so that is a plus.

Get an Apple TV ! Best apps for IPTVs are there.

Shield with a keyboard.

I really need something that is very simple and user friendly. He aint that old but hes not tech savy at all, and understands some English. I tried setting up Kodi but that was a disaster it was way to cluttered and too many menus. He just needs to get to his list of Portuguese Channels and to be able to watch his soccer, news, and soaps.

If you're technically minded you can repurpose that PC into a makeshift media box. I've done it with a ASUS Chome Box before.

So I just ordered the Formuler Z8 Box
