Creating your own 24/7 channels?

by andy8992

I'm not trying to sell them or anything but I've had all of SNL on my computer and would love to make my own channel with the episodes.

I found a post here trying to do it but I've hit a wall. I've been doing it with VLC. I made an m3u8 from a playlist of the episodes. I then stream that with VLC on port 8080. It loads up and starts streaming my playlist.

I then can load up another instance of VLC and open a new stream entering in my IP and Port. VLC accepts the URL and starts playing the video. Essentially giving me a home made TV channel.

Cool

but if then i make another M3U, insert my URL as a channel then try to load that m3u on my phone the video will not play.

The URL within my M3u works absolutely fine when its opened on my computer via VLC.

Is it simply because I need to do something special to network to allow connecting from outside my local computer?

Is it more likely to a codec issue? When I start the stream from VLC I choose TS H264.

NO idea if that made any sense. If it didn't, could anyone explain how 24/7 channels are created?

EDIT: I got it, there were some settings on my router preventing multicast. If anyone needs help with this in the future you can PM ME

It’s better if you use FFmpeg to seep through your folder of SNL as FFmpeg uses barely any CPU usage and it is very optimizable.

If it doesn't work, consider PLEX
