Anyone use Samsung Smart TV and want an alternative player?

I've tried both Smart IPTV and Smart STB. Both applications seem to be pretty user un-friendly. Horrible UI, navigating can be difficult, etc.

I have been working on a player that resembles the Netflix application. The sidebar on the left featuring Home (last watched channels, movies, shows), Movies, TV Shows, Live, and Search. All movies/tv shows appear by their poster, while Live channels are just a regular table (albeit user friendly) like the apps mentioned above. The application would be open source and would be released on the app store for free.

It will allow other features as well:

  • Save your viewing progress on VOD so you can start where you left off
  • Update option so it doesn't need to load the channels every time you open the app, this would improve performance. Sorry for my ignorance if the apps already provide this ability.
  • Add to Watch List (apps have this already)
  • Automatically black list channels that you never watch so they won't take up space on the screen
  • Create custom channel playlists

Would anyone be interested in this?

Would need the ability to blacklist categories not just individual channels. Most people won't want to see all the foreign channels a lot of providers have and hiding them will be very useful.

I use Nvidia Shield with Samsung TV (not using Samsung soft) but I would be also interested if application will be available on Android. What I miss in most apps is watch some channel and in same time have a list of channels to scroll - only GSE Smart IPTV have it.

I would love this, my provider has catch up also so scrolling back through tv guide allows me to watch previously aired. Their android app has it as a separate option where I choose a category then the channel and scroll. Not as user friendly but it works.

I just hope you can get past Samsung's approval process

I'm using an Amazon fire TV stick with free GSE IPTV app side loaded(does all of the above free of charge with minimal adds).....

My TV is a Samsung smart TV and I'd slightly prefer using it for convenience in some situations .... But:

  1. Android gives the option of using a VPN.
  2. Android was free.
  3. I absolutely DIDN'T want to give out my MAC address to third parties

I'd use such an app if it were free or if insanely cheap for channels I had right to access .. for any channels from other jurisdictions I'd be unwilling to connect without a VPN which my TV cannot do barring buying a router I can put CFW on and a lot of setup (i.e. route ask traffic through VPN at router level is the only way to get my TV to use one ).

Tvs are bot bad its the software that is bad. Not a single decent iptv app available while android has tons. Just make one where u can watch multiple channels like more than 2 simultaneously like iptv smarters pro has that function.

Also the menus while changing the channel should not cover the entire screen like the smart iptv does it. It looks so bad keep it to the left side and dont forget to code it remote control buttons to change channel groups so that we can quickly go through the iptv lists!

Absolutely would use it, Tried Smart IPTV, and its so slow and ugly. Smart STB never liked, currently using Nanomid and whilst that is the best I can use on my Samsung it is really flawed.
