Do you use a VPN in the US?

by yougetwhatyougive88

Just streaming here in the US, no downloading. Is it necessary to still use a vpn? What do others here do? Sorry still new to this!

It's not just about being caught doing something that's any shade of grey.

Without a VPN you're ISP is more likely to throttle your speeds, block URLs and monitor you whilst being compliant with any requests of them.

With a VPN they're the blind leading the blind.

No, I don't use VPN. It kills download speed and causes more issues with steaming than it's worth. It's not BS when saying that no end user has ever been criminally charged for IPTV. It hasn't happened, and when/if it does, out of the millions of users, I'm not worried about being the first.

VPN's have exploded the last few years in popularity. Targeted advertising using people's privacy concerns as a scare tactic has been very effective for them. Using a VPN doesn't just magically make you an internet ghost as some like to believe. A lot of VPN services you pay for end up logging & monitoring your traffic anyways. "but my VPN provider doesn't log" Are you just taking their word for this and believing them because they have a popular website and good reviews? There's no verification for this.

Not to mention some of the shady countries they're hosted in have little to no surveillance laws to protect the information. IP addresses aren't the only way for you to be identified today.

At the end of the day you're paying for a service that's providing you with a false sense of protection.

I think in 2019 the time has come to use a VPN for all your online activity. Your email, banking, and even simple web browsing. You are just exercising your right to privacy and closing the door on the bathroom stall. Get one, put it on all yours and your families devices.

I use IP Vanish, which do you use?

When I use a VPN my Mbps goes from 80 down to 30.Is this normal?

Yes. I highly recommend Nord. The only company I've found that resides in a country free of the 14 eyes, nor mandates any sort of data logging.

No VPN that operates in a 14 eye jurisdiction is safe, even if they tell you they keep no logs. They're lying. It's against the law in the U.S. for a U.S. VPN provider to not store any logs. They'd be shut down by the government. IPVanish has been lying for years.
