Can you sideload most apps? If so I can't see myself caring too much about the differences.
It has USB ports so I can use my own remotes/air mice. There's little about the OS experience that is all that useful other than the built in Chromecast feature.
Shield has a lot more horsepower. 4K has enough power that it will not be the reason for your buffering though. Shield a lot more polished and loaded with all the Amazon bloatware in the stick. 4K stick has a superior remote, but you could use that one on your Shield. I have a couple of each, but prefer my Shields.
nVIDIA can help with everything as all component are top notch and it has Lan that it may help with buffering
Beware, shields are very aggressive about auto updating various software and controlling the desktop with stuff that they want you to see.
I don’t see a difference in my hardwired shield vs my WiFi connected 4k firesticks.
It will not stop buffering, unless your network is up to par!
