It seems most services provide packages via their website. Why would someone go with a reseller over going directly to the source? Or am I missing something?

This is my pitch:
Sure you can go to the source. You really can. Hell, I encourage it if money is your want / need But if you have issues, understand that it's usually only one or two guys that you are fighting for attention for. So their support lines are filled with sometimes hundreds if not thousands of users (and resellers).
If you buy through a reseller, you get the 1 on 1 treatment as well as additional resources. In my group, the person who hosts holds contests and gives away subscriptions, upgrades and additional services. You have an issue, you're not fighting to catch the attention between 100+ people, you have a smaller group and they listen.
Finally, I know the admin is the group I'm in is using some of the funds to fund other projects that directly benefit the community and they aren't raising prices. So you get to see your money go to improvements and additional resources.
A quick story of the group I'm a part of: One of the power users had an issue with his IPTV services. Kept getting kicked off by his ISP, even using certain VPNs. The admin of the group bought that user 2 months of a premium VPN to try out to try and get him up and running better.
So why buy from a reseller? Find the right ones and you get to be a part of a really good community. Some out there use that extra money to re-invest into the groups and grow them. Sure some are out there just to make a quick buck but not all.
That’s like saying why do you buy from the supermarket why not go to the coke headquarters
Same reason you don’t buy directly from the owner of a car dealership
See this is where I think you are mistaken. Almost all of the resellers I know sell at or below the original cost. If it's a rebrand they can sell below cost of the main thus attracting customers. HOWEVER, some services require you to disclose to the customer who the provider is and generally make it where you can sell at but not below the price. Sometimes resellers/rebrands even are so large they charge a slight premium just to put up with customers 1 on 1 service. Not all are that way but some are. Customers can be rather challenging especially if they are new or have no experience with technology. Seems you're only experience is with a reseller that is selling at or above. You should keep your eyes out because many sell BELOW provider sell price, especially if its a rebrand. A good example. Reseller can buy 250 credits from Company Z for lets just say $4 a credit (this varies greatly). Provider is company Z sells to rebrand XRT buy sells to customer direct at $10.00. XRT as a hidden provider can sell to end user for $8.00 thus doubling their money to reinvest in more credits while saving the end user money.
We would not be in this mess if resellers would learn to be discreet but they are all over social media .
It almost reminds me of MLMs. Almost.
Resellers are used to lower the risk of the provider. Provider already has a lot of work to do, they make money once the resellers buy credits. It’s easier dealing with 10 clients who are resellers than 1000 end users.
That guy you said is selling for a dollar cheaper is not a provider he’s also a reseller but selling for a bit cheap.
Resellers buying in bulk will get things cheaper than individually buying subscriptions.
I'm a Resseller myself. Customers like that 1 on 1 communication. Faster service
Buyer beware. If you keep digging you always find cheaper pricing. In the end the provider or source could care less what price the reseller sells at as they still make their money. Most providers(admins) I know do not sell personally and rely only on resellers to sell.
When you go shopping at a grocery store or electronic stores all of those items are marked up and come from suppliers rofl it's how the world works
who want resrller ? email me
You can look at resellers as the sales team and the providers as companies that don't really want to advertise or be in the spotlight.
This is one of the reasons why rebranding of providers is an accepted and common practice.
