Emby for IPTV?

by rmanTX

Hey all, 2 months into IPTV. Had been using smarters, and I'm being told to switch to PP...

I found the smarters GUI to be somewhat friendly, and find PP to be horrific haha.

Anyhow, can Emby be used for IPTV? I have been doing some reading, but I'm way to green to understand it. We use emby for all our media, and have emby premier already, so adding it in would be amazing.

Thanks!

Cant answer your question on emby but I would advise trying tivimate Great app hide groups and or channels, rearrange groups much nice interface and well supported here on reddit.

It certainly is possible, and is great. xTeVe is the next stop on your journey. It is very beneficial if you figure out how to do it on your own rather than someone spelling it out.

There's a panel there for M3U/EPG but last I tried Emby for iptv it sucked big time. The channels were all jumbled no matter what you try, EPG was borked, etc.

Try using Tivimate. The new update can use an M3U list or portal address w username/password

Use xTeVe proxy or iptv-epg and give Emby the the modified m3u

Emby supports IPTV just fine, but the devs don't really build on it anymore. It probably won't get any better than it is today, and it's not very great compared to others like Smarters or Perfect Player. I'd recommend using something else unless you absolutely need to have everything in a single app. That's all it's really good for. And recording I guess.

I've used Emby with IPTV with great success. It's pretty straight forward. You must have a premium pass to use it now though.
Just provide your m3U and epg xml to the Live TV category in settings. Let it sync. Depending on how large your channel playlist is depends how long it takes to sync. I recommend using a EPG service to shorten your list down and to get accurate EPG info, as Emby can DVR, but it can not DVR without correct EPG info. That's what triggers the record/stop record.

i use emby iptv just fine, their support is worlds better than plex's ever was

Live TV which you need premier for and the IPTV plugin which you dont need premier for are different.

I use the IPTV plugin, the major hassle is that you have to add each channel manually, but I added around 20 in 5 minutes so it isnt too much hassle!

Tivimate or OTT NAVIGATOR are probably the best then Smarters IMHO, but it is personal preference so just try them and see.

PP is ok, just not as good as the two I mentioned for me

Personally, I prefer iptv-epg.com. they run arrive $3-5 a month but they have every chance, and if they don't you can request it in their forum
