Have I wasted my money on a Z8?

I bought a Formuler Z8 about 6 weeks ago and it was fantastic. Then, obviously with the recent issues, its not been getting used too much.

Even recently when the providers I have been using have migrated to alternative solutions, the MyTVOnline app crashes on connecting each time without fail & reboots the box. I've had to use third-party applications and use the link for an .m3u to get anything to work. Offering me no real benefit of the receiver I've just spent £130 on, when I could have kept using an Amazon Fire TV Stick worth £40.

Now, my provider is advising that they're stopping MAG support, which in turn also means the MyTVOnline app won't work again. The 'playlist' option in MyTVOnline has been very flakey, I know its there but it just hasn't really worked well for me. I've been reduced to having to install Tivimate to get any service, but I'm missing out on the EPG and unbelievable load times I got from MyTVOnline.

I'm just wondering now if all providers will end up going the same way & whether I'll actually get to experience the benefits of this box again?

I think TiviMate is way forward from now on , written from scratch with modern API and player, still lacks few features mostly recording part but Alex is working is A$$ off to add missing option.

Z8 provides the best experience for iptv. Yes because of their app mol2. Without it the Z8 would be an ordinary android box like any other. Z8 itself is also a decent device not some cheap china shit. Haven't tested the Nvidia shield though, it probably is a better device but not for iptv. Who wants iptv stick with the Z8, who wants Netflix, HBO, Disney+ and those official paid apps stick with the Nvidia.

I don’t know why people still but these formuler boxes. They’re mytvonline app has been cloned and made a mile better by a dev (iMPlayer), they’re software and storage are rubbish in comparison to an nvidia shield 4K, they can’t do even half of what the nvidia can. It surprises me that people are happy to pay £130.00 for basically an app and have to use that app or then sideload others onto they’re box, which you can do on any android device. Just my opinion, I’ve had a formuler (z7+) and after 3 months it’s was laggy and buggy as shit, I’m a year in with my nvidia and it’s still just as rapid as the day I got it.

You can use the m3u url instead of the mac on the portal screen

Just use iMPlayer on a shield or firestick, runs much faster with many more features
