Xtream Codes, What did it do?

by permanull

So,
I'm genuinely curious maybe an re-seller here could answer this for me... but what exactly did Xtream Codes do for people? Was it just starting ffmpeg pointed at some RTMP stuff for you? Auto-configured some stuff? Handled authentication of MAG devices?

I'm not familiar with IPTV or the industry/community so I'm just curious on how it worked and why it going down meant dozens of platforms stopped working.

It was a panel provider. Basically software that controlled everyone’s access to the streams.

The suppliers used them to sell to providers. Providers used them to sell to uses and resellers.

It linked streams to providers. It handled a lot of the server and account stuff and it was easy to use. Supposedly a lot of the panels that people switched to after it went down aren't good at handling the large size or require fine tuning
