I have been seeing a lot of reviews for Formuler z8 and NVIDIA but I’m not exactly gamer so the NVIDIA wouldn’t be for me. Any opinions on best box out there right now? I have had a MAG254 previously but only for ease of use for my mom and grandmother that’s getting older
Honestly even though most people recommend the more expensive ones, any generic box from AliExpress will be more than enough if streaming is all you wanna do
Regardless of the gaming situation, I’d get a Shield. Proper Android TV with plenty of updates. Consider it a more future proof box than the Z8.
The only major plus of the Z8 is the IPTV app user interface but there’s an app that’s been released that mimics it really well.
Nvidia would an excellent choice. Another good choice at the moment is the NEW Fire TV cube with the faster processor. I've been through about 20 different Android boxes, and they all disappoint as the processor is not fast enough. The s912, s905x, and s905y2 are all inadequate to stream smooth video no matter how fast your connection is. That's not to say that they're not usable, but just barely. The Rockchip boxes are all cheap and tear up easily. Nvidia Shield and the "new" Fire TV 4k cube are the only acceptable choices for Kodi, for me.
