VPN Blacklisted By UK ISP

by fooali

This is just a rumour at the moment nothing concrete but word is getting round that Uk ISPs are starting to blacklist popular VPN providers and their IPs.

I don’t know what the legalities of that is but it appears Virgin Media are the main protagonists in this and it won’t be long before the rest of them follow suit.

I don't believe it for a second VPNs are perfectly legal in the UK and they can be used for a multitude of reason`s where did you hear this rumour.

Not true I have a friend who works in the virgin media offices and when someone in our local pub asked the about VPN’s being blocked he said the virgin don’t have the time frame to do it he said that for ever ip and server the block by the time they’ve done that the vpn will already have a new ip and server

Virgin - go into the router settings and untick block vpn

The only thing I’ve seen is TalkTalk blocking Team Viewer.... remote support tool.

In other news, Boris has stopped the bill to block porn, so we have that going for us!

I very much doubt it, as stated already they are perfectly legal and used for perfectly legitimate reasons by millions of people every day in the UK.

The company I work for uses a VPN so that we can access customer details etc while out in the field.

While I agree that this is unlikely, no one is saying they would block the VPN protocol but specific commecial VPN providers.

There is a big difference between corporate VPNs (as businesses using their own VPN servers) vs using commercial VPN like PIA or NordVPN or IPVanish. What they can do is block commerical VPN providers known servers not businesses using private VPN servers. I seriously doubt companies use NordVPN or IPVanish or any of the other VPN providers.

ISP's only block websites/IP addresses when required to do so by court orders.

Even if this did ever happen, it would only be a handful of larger isps who would implement it, no reason for smaller independent isps to block VPNs, even the mighty ball chasing court order block didn't name or include those providers (and there are several).

I do not know if this help but some providers have CDN channels my provider CloudsPal have UK-CDN ( Uk-B) does not get blocked during games , check with your provider if they can add this so you will not need a VPN

I have just updated my Nord VPN . A little pop up says that some ISP's have started to blocked VPN's so they have introduced Obfuscated servers. https://imgur.com/a/IiWWoMj
