Bitcoin can be tracked .

by cardinals588

Latest news about a pornography ring was caught, because the i.r.s. tracked the block chain. As a result they were able to find all the people involved. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/kellyphillipserb/2019/10/16/irs-followed-bitcoin-transactions-resulting-in-takedown-of-the-largest-child-exploitation-site-on-the-web/amp/

Duh. Why do you think all the services that support BTC need a valid ID and pic verified by a human to get started. Just saying, giant banks & retailers wouldn't support it at all if it was totally anonymous. Hardly anything is anymore.

dadidutdut

They deserve to be caught.

AvocadosGuac

Nobody is going to sue you for using an illegal IPTV service. Stop with this nonsense

iamlurkerpro

It probably took alot of resources for them to follow the chain. The people that they were tracking are among the worst humanity has to offer. I highly doubt anyone would put millions of dollars of resources to find someone who is paying 8 bucks a month for tv. Have to kinda draw a line between the actions being taken by those who are using bitcoin. If a company wants to spend several million dollars to unmask an iptv buyer just does not add up.

leetdemon

Ive been saying that since the dont freak out thread....bitcoin is no more safe than paypal....

EdmundGerber

So - the folks touting bitcoin as 'safer' for iptv payments - what say you? It seems the only way it's 'safer' is that the customers can't get a refund using bitcoin - so it's 'safer' for resellers.

It appears unsafe from a customer point of view, and I certainly will never entertain using it for IPTV.

serpentxx

Using wallet and exchange services can be tracked as they want your ID, credit card details etc etc.

If you are straight up mining crypto's that iptv's would accept its in theory anonymous.

But all in all, it takes alot of manpower to sue or issue notices to hundreds of thousands of clients, its easier and more damaging to go for the service/server providers, im not suggesting that your 100% safe though, take as much precautions as you can.

Interwobs

I'm glad some sick pervs got caught, bit lets be clear here, anyone who thought bitcoin was "anonymous" is thick.

It's a public distributed ledger of transactions, it is literally more public than your banks own transactions.

StupidisAStupidPosts

If you've made it anonymous Bitcoin wallet. And mined the bitcoin. Wouldn't that be anonymous

chevdecker

Of course! I've always thought it was a joke that the pinned post on IPTV basics for this sub suggests opening a Coinbase account, which requires ID. So if the IPTV service you use gets raided and they look at the transactions, all they have to do is ask coinbase "who owns these accounts" and they've got your photo ID.

0utrunner

What about Dash (using private send), Monero, zcash, pretty much any coin if you convert it anonymously to bitcoin? Bitcoin alone isn't for complete privacy.

giqcass

Bitcoin was literally designed for transactional transparency. All transactions are PUBLIC. It's basically a bank with less privacy. With BTC it's easier to set up a wallet(account) anonymously but the problem is spending Bitcoin. You will eventually get busted spending them unless you live in Russia or some other place authorities can't touch you. You're also likely to get busted turning it into cash unless you're very careful. It's possible to launder BTC but it's not easy with large sums. People really don't understand crypto currency.

Good. If it catches these sick pricks I couldn’t care less. It’s like your iPhone it’s secure to 99% of the world but if you were to commit a serious crime I’d bet my life on the NSA or an agency would be able to crack it to solve their case

nikhil48

Lol... bitcoin can be tracked should not be the first thing that comes to mind when something like this happens.

Fan-fuckin-tastic that these guys were caught.

No shit sherlock its a public ledger

Undercutandratbeard

Catching these fucks is worth it. We can just forget about anonymous anything going forward. Using bitcoin is not much safer than paypal these days.
