Iconic Streams: Not So Good

by rjimtucker

I signed up for a trial with Iconic Streams, looking to replace Helix, which has become next to useless since they migrated to their new system.

Sadly, Iconic seems even worse for my purposes. Catch-up service is important to me, and I couldn’t get a single program to play from Iconic’s catch-up service. I tried dozens of programs from at least a dozen channels across various categories. I’ve opened a support ticket but I’m not impressed so far.

I gave Iconic a try mostly because IPTV Insider mentioned them as one of only a few providers worth trying in this post-XC world.

I’m pretty sure I will just let my subs expire now, give up on this kind of IPTV for a while, and check again in 3 months to see if anybody has figured out how to provide a service at least as reliable as Helix used to be (which wasn’t perfect, but which was pretty good considering the price).

I expect I will get a flurry of “DM me; we’ve got a perfect service!!!” messages. Been there. Done that. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

But if there’s an actual subscriber (not a provider) who can tell me there’s a service up and running with a good catch-up service and the usual spread of UK/US/Canada entertainment, news, and sports channels, please let me know.

Thanks.

complaining a bout a trial. Dude, this iptv, move try the next, but is u must know, many others have issues with VOD and catchup because they need extra servers and haven't migrated over to the new server yet. Like u said, u probably will get a bunch of try mine so whats the big deal.

The best services inevitably are the low key underground ones, who don't have resellers or spam Reddit and social media, the problem is, if you give their details to one person, that person then tells 10 others, they tell 10 more and then one of those blabs the details down the pub or posts it all over facetwat, suddenly that once good underground private service becomes as bad as Helix or Iconic, and fucks it up for everybody including the person who first shared it!, rinse and repeat. But those services are out there.

Ever thought of using a Plex share for your catchup needs (assuming it’s not sports)?

Some update as soon as the show has aired. Check out /r/plexshares for information.

I'm looking for the same. It seems like catchup is rarer and rarer these days. I found a fairly reliable service, but the catchup is almost non-existent and it uses STB Emulator, which I'm not a fan of at all. Very disappointing how bad Helix has gotten.

Iconic is still an xc provider that is in the process of relaunching on the xc reborn platform.

Id expect them to return to being one of the best providers in the future because their "feeds or sources" are top notch. It will just take some time to get all the extra features such as vod and catchup back up and running.

That said, there are still some old school providers that rarely go down and offer what you're looking for (in my case ipguys). However, you may not find what you need if you an xc or m3u guy... It will take some time for those providers to return to normal.

Mac based iptv is where it's at now (it's always been like this though) despite popular opinion.
