Channel sorting into groups using Simple IPTV Kodi addon

by mysterymanOO7

I tried Kodi addon simple IPTV. It did work, however, I had a few issues:

  1. It loads the playlist every time I start Kodi, which is a considerable time as the playlist has over 25k entries (due to tags etc.). How to reduce this frequency to reload the playlist (I already have selected the option to persist the playlist locally).
  2. The second issue is that the channels don't get sorted into group. It just displays a very long list containing all the possibly entries, which makes browsing very slow while changing the channels from the list.
  3. Because, the channels were not being sorted, I manually sorted them into groups, but when I restarted Kodi, the channels playlist was reloaded and it deleted all the groups.

I liked the smoothness and experience that I had for the short time when I had my own small channels groups running. Is there a way to solve these issues?

Or is there a better alternative on android tv box that I can use?

If you are technically inclined, the best companion to kodi live tv is tvheadend. It will allow you to permanently trim, group, rename, renumber, all the channels you wish. The added bonus is that you can now have scheduled recording and have rewind/forward on live TV

If you have an android box, use an app for IPTV. I love Kodi, but watching live tv on it is a chore. Plenty of other android apks will do the job better. Tivimate, IMplayer, Perfect player, the list goes on and on.

Trim the garbage out that m3u. You watch what, maybe 2-300?

Ive tried alot of software for it, most trash. Im using http://www.htpcitalia.it/site/index.php/downloads/file/23-m3u-editor combined with some hand editing in notepad+

Also make sure to look over your Live/PVR settings in kodi

In PVR live TV settings try turning off both these. Synchronize channel groups with backends and synchronize channel order from backends.
