Broadcasting iptv

by zeerah

Hi, sorry if this post is a dupe. I have parents moving to an area that’s outside of satellite footprint and they do however have internet via high speed wireless. They watch pretty much just the local news Channel and maybe 1 other channel.

I understand the basics on broadcasting and that id need a receiver constantly on that channel. I looked at just going with a slingbox but they are hard to get and the controls suck.

My question is I guess two parts. 1) what do people use for capture hardware and then what software is being used to push out the stream after is muxed back together. I have 1gb upload so I’m not concerned about the bandwidth usage

Just get a cheap IPTV service for them...might as well utilize the money they're paying for internet...

Which area are you from? Have you considered locast.org?

Have a slingbox PRO-HD and 500. Granted I cut the cord ages ago (and they get little use now) but I never really had an issue with it (patience sending the commands via internet to IR blaster). The only problem was that outside of the firestick nothing else had a native app (and only 350 and up were supported on it). I didn't want my inlaws to have to chromecast from their phone. That being said I don't think they will be around much longer but if you are really antsy for one I may have an extra 500 willing to part with for the right price.
