I get request to provide IPTV service to local Hotel any ideas .

by Hjine

Hi all I got request from guy working on local computer service company on my country (not western country ) and he ask me to provide him a way to offer IPTV services on all hotel room (they are about 400) .

The IPTV will be extra service so the guests need to pay extra to access yo the service on their rooms , Currently they only have LCD TV's and dishes cables . The computer company owner have no idea what IPTV is he want me do everything and only provide him the bill ,

==The steps I need to done== First is get rebroadcast server(a PC) and connect it to the hotel internal network .

  • ( install /program ) a control panel to authorize IPTV access to only rooms that bill are paid ,

  • install a satellite receiver / (TV Box ) that can receive regular satellite channels (via dish cable) , and had IPTV features .

  • Rebroadcast (for direct line subscription ) to the internal network (to save network bandwidth and subscription cost ) .

  • I didn't have number of channels(direct line) on mind , but I think about ~150 channels as start . So what's you think about my plan and what should I do more , if you have previous experience it will be good .

=Update = I get number of channels down to 50 Channel so the best way Is doing the rebroadcast locally .

400 rooms?, Sounds like you would be better buying the channel streams direct and then redistributing them from servers inside the hotel, a kind of mini private IPTV service with a maximum of 400 subs (rooms). Billing from each room to access the iptv service could then be handled in the same way as any other IPTV services, just set the sub length at the chosen price to 12 or 24 hours - as a lot of services currently do with trials. I suspect you are going to need one hell of a fast internet connection though, especially when the hotel is busy and the same connection is also shared with the usual guest WiFi access points etc, how about network cabling?, is this already in place or are you going to be running data cables to each of the 400 rooms? How are you going to reproduce the streams on each individual TV? 400 Mag boxes or something like openbox which can handle sat and IPTV on the same STB??. There may be some hotel TV distribution system which can do this but I've not come across one that would integrate IPTV although Infomir tend to focus on this kind of corporate market so they may be able to suggest something..Best of luck charging hotel guests to access something as unpredictable and unreliable as IPTV though! I suspect if any popular channels or the whole system fails reception will be inundated with complaints and refund requests.

i think it a very bad idea.....what if somebody in law enforcement watch it and notice buffering or something not right...it a bad idea you need to set back and think about that long and hard

Well I'm no expert as I've never been involved with running a service or any business end of IPTV, I'm just a customer, but I do have experience of installing and maintaining large Electronic distribution projects, and this sounds like one hell of a project to approach, especially for one or two people. Also make sure you decide who is maintaining the system when installed otherwise your phone might be ringing at 1AM for you to go in and fix the system when it fails!.

It's illegal so be careful

System is scalable to whatever you need. Depending on pond how many channels you have on heading system, we could scale a system that would suit their needs. It’s just one of many options that we can offer.

Look into a product called EXTERITY. It does exactly what you need. I have friends that work with it, installing in many hotels and even cruise ships. This is what you need.

Do you have your own servers? Are you a reseller?

Hi this is an easy job, I’ve setup many IPTV services for providers with over 10,000 customers. Hit me up for more information.

If they really want to convert there headend system we have a IP to RF destreamer.

iptvfreak04

It takes a stream in and converts it to 16channel RF output for a combiner. It means you could use IP stream coming in and Modulated RF signal on the output side for a traditional head and system.
