Is VPN necessary in the UK?

by PSYCHYX

So this is my first time using IPTV, and I've got talktalk internet in the UK. My provider says it's unnecessary to have a vpn unless your provider blocks the channels. I'm into football, and have heard the pl made a court order requiring ISP's to block illegal streams of the football.

So my question is, is it safe to watch IPTV without a vpn, until the provider gets blocked, and where does the law stand in the UK with IPTV? My provider claims that they aren't interested in the end-users, but mostly closing the server farms that supply the streams instead.

Just want a definitive answer.

*edit* I forgot to say, I have a gen 1 fire stick, so it's a bit of a pain to get a new fire stick just for a vpn :/

BLACK FRIDAY!!!!! why take the risk?

For Privacy reasons, just use a VPN . Wouldn't cost you much. Better safe than sorry.

Yes you dont need a new stick for a vpn just type in ipvanish and download it

Gen 1 firesticks don’t take a vpn. You will likely need a vpn when premier league is on. Unless your iptv provider specifically says you don’t need one for their service. If it’s an American provider they likely won’t know so you’ll probably need one.

I mean I was just thinking, if I had a vpn on my computer, connect my fire stick to it through a wifi hotspot, and enable the vpn, would that work?

Only necessary if TalkTalk block your provider during the 3PM kickoffs due to the high court ruling.

Streaming is not a criminal offence in the U.K.

No, I've been doing this for years and never received a letter. If you get a letter from your ISP, then worry about a VPN. Until then, happy streaming. Rising tides add-on works best for the sports imo.
