IPTV Raid

by mermantraut

In a hypothetical situation, most people say if there is a takedown that the end user really shouldn't fear repercussions, however the resellers might. In reality though isn't the reseller just the middle man? Wouldn't authorities go after the actual streamers of the content? or am I missing something?

I have been watching the pirate industry for video for over 30 years. First we had 10 foot dishes in with hacked boards, there there was hacked DTV and XVU, Then there was the hacked FTA now we have the hacked IPTV. Not to mention the Napsters, Torrents, paid server shares, Kodi just to name a few.

And I can only remember 2 or 3 cases where an end user has ever been arrested or let alone prosecuted. And of those they were typically bar owners trying to cash in on a big fight and not willing to spend the coin on the PPV.

So if you are an end user using some method to view copy written material with out paying for it and are not trying to make a profit then in reality your risk is some where close to not going to happen.

In the prohibition days in the 20's to the marijuana industry the goal of authorities has always been to stem the supply. The cops were not breaking down doors in the 20's to catch you with your bottle of hooch. If the cops drove past your apartment and smelled pot a burning they were not breaking down your door.

I firmly believe and I think the industry believes this as well that Piracy is some way actually is beneficial to the industry. If people were not able to use forms to get content for free or limited cost and had to strictly pay for content the demand for content would dry up as people would just not have enough money and would just give up in general and stop consuming the content at all.

If one had to pay to go and watch every Marvel movie of pay to own every DVD that came out most could not afford it so some may just not invest at all. If they can pirate the movies that they are not most interested in so they can keep up on the timeline then they will still invest in going to the movies to see the what is most important to them.

theres hundreds of thousands of end users

there's much less of resellers

they will get the resellers because if you knock out just 1 reseller, you knockout hundreds of their users

sorta the same with police and drugs. they want to go after the big suppliers more than they want the avg crackhead on the street

im just trying to gauge the level of risk. with enough research I've found that to buy from the source is ridiculously cheap and If someone was thinking of becoming a reseller just for themselves and some family members and keep it low key I don't think it would be fair to get pinched and lose everything when you're just the middle man

There's always gonna be cheap cheap cheap subs from sketchy sellers from china. shrug

Resellers who had large numbers of clients were not reporting that income . You should be worried .

Greed lol
