Buffering buffering... buffering...

by NearnorthOnline

I know my isp provider personally.

It's not them. I have a solid 25mbit download that I can max and never see a issue. I can have 3 TVs streaming netflix. And then pull an HDR stream off disney.

So. 25mbit is enough.

However the 3 or 4 iptv providers I've tried now. Buffer. Annoyingly.

If I watch my bw on my router it never seems to pull more then maybe 3-4MB.

And it buffers.

I've tried smarters. Smart iptv. And Xteve. Over multiple devices.

Is it just that hard to find reliability? They tell me it's my internet but when I can clearly see the service isn't even using half my available bw. I call bs.

Do I need to keep looking? Or is there something else?

Routers higher end newer asus.

Thoughts or inputs please?

IPTV isn't for you then.

Sometimes it doesn't work for some people but I would still try over VPN, try different devices , wired and WiFi.

Comparing IPTV to Netflix and D+ is like comparing walking to driving. Both a form of transport but one takes longer and isn't as useful as the other. Never compare IPTV to Netflix.

If I was in your shoes I would flash Merlin firmware and try per device VPN and then if that doesn't work give up.

You tried pulling the power cable from the router and leaving it out for 30 seconds? Makes a big difference

clubsimo

Have you tried it over VPN?

25 mbits isn't nearly enough if you're streaming all those things at one time. Minimum is 10 mbps per device and that isn't even gonna be good. 15 is usually recommended. Make sure your router has MiMo.

How do your know your ISP provider personally? Most likely if it's a smaller provider they're just a reseller of a larger provider. You could 100% be getting throttled. And if you're only getting 3-4 MB on IPTV it sounds like that's exactly what's happening. Have you tried using a VPN?

I have a 20 mb connection and IPTV works well most of the time. 25 mb is good enough. Don't let anyone mislead you that it isn't enough.

This.

I've never heard of an IPTV provider admitting that they're at fault (except after the 'event' when some admitted that load balancing was an issue after loss of XC) but I bet most struggle to handle big events and EPL/NFL/etc.

After all, they don't (can't) have peering arrangements like the big players

So next big question. What vpn to use. Haha

NearnorthOnline

Screwed the pooch in the testing lol.

Came home and tried a new provider but also turned on proton vpn. Thus far. No issues. So gonna try the other providers I have and see.

things to try:

reboot modem

log into modem and set a new DNS such as opendnds or cloudflare or google dns then reboot modem

try a wired connection from modem to iptv device and not wifi

if forced to use wifi login modem and change channels to 6 or 11

some iptv servers can be to far away from you so trying a new different iptv with a free trial first before buying.

of course clearing cache on the device is another thing to try.

Probably using the cheapest providers you can find that offer subs for like $30 a year. Those are all garbage. Spend $10+ a month and get a quality sub.

yeah it's your internet provider. You would find that most streaming services have data centres local in your country. Hence why they work flawlessly (netflix, hulu, youtube etc). However if you do a traceroute of your IPTV traffic you would find it may go through another country to get to your country (e.g. Singapore, Asia). Here is where it may bottle neck and you will experience buffering. Some of the larger ISP's have unrestricted unmetered bandwitch at these sites and can play IPTV flawlessly with minimal packet loss. Where as cheaper ISP's who obviously rent the infrastructure off larger ISP's will struggle at these bottle neck sites but still remain flawless in playing Netflix etc (stored locally). Reason being is that they may not have unrestricted access or maybe capped at a certain speed at these international data exchanges. I have tested so many VPN services to try and mask my internet traffic in case of "throttling from my isp" was occurring and hit the same brick wall over and over again. I could not get rid of the buffering. I probably tried maybe 4 different ISP's in my trial and error. I experienced this personally. I changed ISP's to a larger ISP. I mean it was a bit more expensive but it was hell worth it. I no longer experience buffering.

I read a bunch of the comments here and I'm of the opinion it's your isp... There's a guy on youtube called Peter Carcione (sp?) who just posted a few videos on how he's using an unlimited cell line with a router that uses a sim card. The wifi sim router distributes the wifi signal better than a hotspot device could. (Since this is reddit, I'm sure the know it alls will come out and tell me I'm a fool, but that guy did it). One test you could do to see if it would work is to do a simple speed test on your phone using your cell signal and see what kind of speed your phone brings in. If it's more than your current wifi speed, it's worth a shot to try it and see if you can boost your speeds and packet loss in the house. I'm so excited for the downvotes. lol.

I would get a provider with servers in the Toronto area. If you have a solid internet connection, then there is no way it should buffer. That is a good test.

RedBarchetta_1

what box are you using to stream with? It's a longshot question, but I had the same issues with my Shield. Come to find out, the Shield streams so much better on 5g wifi than 2.4.

Rifter0876

IPTV can buffer for sure, finding stable provider is not easy, i had to go through over a dozen before finding a good one. Also try a VPN.

yougetwhatyougive88

I use sportztv...stream through a fire cube...my internet signal maxes at 400mbps with no vpn and about 200 with the vpn on. Buffering is basically non existent on 3 devices at the same time.

Lakeshow24742

I use jarvis and it's very reliable. Not trying to upsell lol just saying, it's pretty good and they offer free trials on weekends I believe. Mostly US, CDN and sports/PPV...although I never watch ppv so I wouldn't know how those are but i watch just about all sports and never have major issues.

Now, I do have gigabit internet so ya, really high speeds and I don't use a VPN. Haven't in months and my service provider hasn't throttled my speeds at all.
