Need help with IPTV in Canada

by seasnskies

Hey there reddit community! Please forgive my ignorance on this but I need some help. I have a media streaming box I bought on Amazon about three years ago. I used to try to program it myself with Kodi, but found it was too much upkeep with trying to keep the streams current, and which ones were running optimally. I don't profess to be the most tech-savvy of people, but I can usually figure something out with enough time, but I don't have the patience on this one. I had been subscribing to a streaming service called "Ulimited Media," who have sense being total jerks, for reasons I won't bother to get into right now. I don't quite know how to work with what they installed on my streaming device, nor do I have the time to figure it out. There are few movie and TV apps, Airdroid, and some other various apps including one called "Filelinked. Basically what I'm wanting is to find a really good internet streaming service provider that can remotely reconfigure my media player, and has a subscription service of sorts where they will keep things up to date with installed apps for an affordable monthly fee. Preferably under $20. Any help is very much appreciated!

Canadian here.

Your best bet is to ditch the "media streaming box" you have, grab a good piece of hardware that you have control over, find a good provider, and set it up yourself. Take the worry out of it. Provider goes down, or is a right cunt? Grab a new one and keep going.

My setup:

  • Nvidia Shield (which I use as my netflix/youtube/prime/Plex/IPTV box)
  • Tivimate app (which you download off the google play store on the device)
  • an IPTV provider (I use Beast, but you can use whatever you want)

They send you an M3u link and an EPG link, you pop that into your Tivimate settings and away you go.

Canadian in Quebec here. I suggest that you get a solid streaming device (Shield, MiBox and/or 4K Firestick.)

Research IPTV providers in Reddit and select one which had a solid record during the October crisis.

Research a Plex and/or Emby P4S service which has history and offers the language of your need.

Even after equipment cost, it's a lot less expensive than cable/satellite. You won't be missing much in our 2 official languages.

Good luck.

grab yourself a good box like xioami 4k s, or a firestick etc. and install tivimate. less hastle with these. If you want less work then get a formuler z8 of dreamlink t4 (it comes with its own iptv app called mytvonline. one of the best so far). Pm me for a sub. goodluck

Buy a 4K Amazon stick. Get a good provider like DarkMEDIA and you’ll be all set

Heads up... bell is a known throttler of iptv traffic. Get a VPN as well.

Hey Guys

I am in the same boat . .looking to get my old man (not very technical) one of these media streamer boxes with IPTV for Christmas. Can you guys suggest some media boxes that are good? I have used Pi's and find them very laggy but love the customization aspect of them.

Also looking for a good IPTV provider in Ontario for UK Channels and mainly Rugby and all UK/European sports channels. I don't want to be farting around and nor will my old man. He wants instant gratification like most old people (no offense to any of you).

any insight?
