The lady loves the dvds and it’s time to upgrade to a blu ray player with Netflix, wifi, YouTube ... has anyone found a blueray/4K/DVD/BHS/anything player with the ability to load apps .. sorry for even asking this

I love my TiVo for free ota (Canada based). I use the harmony - but - I wish there were more devices / A decent device, that combines the ability to load apks, along with, either blue ray / ota (Amazon fire cube, formuler has the UK antenna option )
Why does the bluray drive need to have apps? Wouldn't a Firestick be able to handle that for you in a much cheaper way (if not your TV itself?)?
