Is it possible to record iptv?

by Anonymousfreddie

I know some services had recording functions, but I never found any that worked. After gears went down, I finally found a very stable provider but they don't have catch up. I'm wondering if anyone can point me toward a way to record. Thanks.

IPTV Extreme pro app on android allows preset timer recordings of shows .. select channel and time to start and end.

depending on the device it may not show the usb storage so you might have to use a sd card..

on my old android box I can record to a sd card no issues.. newer device should accept usb drive.

stick to fat32-exfat32 formatting your storage.

remember when recording and wanting to watch as well you will need multi connection iptv subscription. if you only have one connection then set the recording then go back to main menu of the app and leave device on then turn off your tv.

there is also an app called iptv smarters that allows recording but you can't preset it .. it only allows you to press and record the channel your watching and set how many minutes to record for so you have to be there to start the recording manually... no preset timer recording .. hopefully in the future it will with updates.

I've never understood the masses wanting a recording option. There are so many options out there for catch up tv and movies. Wako and RD are my go to.

DjurreP

TV Mosaic, Xteve/Plex

If you buy a Formuler box, they can record.

Emby will do it, I see an option on IPTV Smarters Pro to do it but haven't had any experience.

Wouldn’t you be able to do that if you hooked up a hard drive to your tv?

With the Formuler Z8 you can schedule and record whatever you want.

I depends what type of IPTV and what you're running it on. If it's IPTV from an m3u with a decent provider EPG and running on Android, you can easily record to HDD using Android TV's Live Channels app (you can also side load the APK on regular Android).

What you'll need to achieve this is an app called TVirl, which hooks your m3u and EPG into Live Channels.

Omi Gears owner mentioned last week in an interview that mayfair guide was in trouble because they hosted the catch up feature for Gears Reloaded and apparently violated copyright. So Catch up and VOD is the issue.

NextPVR is a great free app that does live TV, TV Guide, recordings, including season recordings. It can be installed on Windows, Linux, Mac, Docker. You can use it directly, or as a backend for kodi etc. https://nextpvr.com

Check out a reasonably new iptv app, it allows recording to a HDD or a nas drive. It’s better than the formuler software now and a whole lot cheaper. It’s $13 for lifetime subscription on 2 devices. Called IMPlayer. Great app.
