Why would there be more channels and/or better stream availability in one app vs another?

by jizzinjector

Been using primestreams after helix exploded.

Fairly decent service but I've noticed something strange with their playlist. If I use their Adult category as an example, I get 98 channels through the Smarters App on my iPhone but if I use Tivimate on my Shield, I only get 22 channels. Channel 3100 is available in Smarters but not in Tivimate.

In addition, a stream might be down on Tivimate but not on Smarters.

Anyone have any guesses why this might be happening?

How do you like primestreams other than the above mentioned weirdness? Is the guide any good? Buffering issues ever? Catchup?

I've never used primestreams but the service I use has a few different apps where you just enter username and password and they also support m3u (eg for tivimate) and mag box. I've noticed differences between apps and tivimate there too. When they had a major problem with the url they'd listed for m3u, they said to use their apps temporarily so I'm assuming they'd two urls. They must try to keep the url of their own apps private for an added layer of security around it. It's nothing some basic packet sniffing software wouldn't expose but it'd be enough to keep 99.99% of casuals from copy pasting it all over the Internet.

Try updating your playlist. I get 98 adult channels on my shield using Tivimate.

Could be the format the stream is in, smarters may support it while tivimate doesn't. But I've never had the issue seems very weird
