Setting up IPTV for Raspberry Pi 3B+ with OSMC in Canada?

by [deleted]

Hey guys, I recently installed Kodi on my Rpi using OSMC, and have installed Youtube and Exodus Redux addons for now. I also have an infomir set top box that I've been using for my IPTV. I'm fairly new to Kodi and IPTV. I was wondering if I could get advice on these questions:

  • Is live streaming through a rpi 3b a good idea? Will I need to add heatsinks to my pi?
  • Can I use the credentials I'm using in my set top box, in my pi? Or will I need to subscribe to a different service?

Any help on setting this up would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I would run libreelec instead it'd a lot lighter

Used standard setup pi's and osmc for iptv for years and rarely had any kid of problem.

Should be fine without heatsinks

Mag boxes use a MAC code. If your provider supplies m3u links, there’s no need for a different provider.

Ya, I would recommend get something else for iptv, something simple like firestick would do. Infomir is a mag box, so your account is locked to that box. You would need to get another sub.

I really hate Kodi. It’s just a bunch of packages that will make your device slow. Get yourself Popcorn Time and TiviMate.
