Watch Antenna TV with IPTV?

by komobu

Is there a way to merge my antenna channels with my IPTV channels? I hate having to switch over to a different source, and then fire up the nvidia shield. It would be nice to view my locals over the antenna and then just enter channel up or down and be on an iptv station. or even to be able to watch my tivo over my nvidia shield so then I would just switch apps. Is this possible?

Yes, there is a way I did with an HD Homerun. I used these directions and it works great!

And I use this for the guide information.

You can use live channels with pvrlive to combine ota with iptv.

You can do this with Enigma2 devices. I haven't done it myself, but if you have a look around there's some setup guides kicking about. Not the most user-friendly things to set up, if I remember correctly though.

Formuler Z8 has ability to use USB antenna https://www.formuler.tv/z8

Sure. I’m using a small SATIP Server “converting” my Sat signals into RTMP streams. (No transcoding) Even enc. channels are no problem. At the end you can mix them with regular IPTV streams in a self-made M3U File. Done.

Note: many SATIP Server do support Cable or Antenna signals as well. E.g.: DD Octopus NET S2

I used Plex with a HDHomerun for the OTA channels and xTeve for the IPTV. Combined both with Plex channel guide info from a local cable company. Kind of a pain to set up and an additional $5/mo for Plex but did work great and could record IPTV and OTA channels...

I use smart iptv on Samsung qled tizen. Edit your m3u instead of stream url simply set the channel as dvbt-99 dvbc-99 dvbs-99 and it will show the channel that is number 99 on your tv:s channel list.

I know it also works on other branded tv:s using smart iptv.

A lot of IPTVs have local channels for the big 4 (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX). Some also carry local PBS and CWs. The other channels on your local OTA antenna feed are national anyway and typically included in IPTV channel listings (i.e Comet, Grit, StartTV, Antenna TV, ION, etc.).

I have an HDHomeRun connected to an OTA antenna. I converted the channels to M3U, set up an xmltv.php file for the guide using zap2xml and have a script set up to update it nightly. I then put both files out on Dropbox and link to them in TiviMate and created a seamless experience for my local channels along with my IPTV channels.

The only thing missing right now is the ability to record through TiviMate, but it's coming. In the meantime, I use Plex to do my local channel recording (I mainly only record US Football) and have all my other shows set up to be grabbed by Sonarr and put into my Plex library automatically.

It was a bit of work to get everything set up, but that was like a year ago and I haven't had to touch it since. And the best part is that it's "wifey approved", meaning that she doesn't struggle switching between channels anymore. It's about 98% as close to an actual STB that I've been able to achieve. :)

One of my setups: I have an HDHomerun, and use Plex and https://xteve.de/ (emulates an HDHomerun) to get my IPTV channels in there. Works really well for me and is very wife proof.

I don't think you can since OTA requires a tuner. I haven't seen an app that can access the tuner. Although this device may be handy.
