Epic Stream M3U not always loading in Kodi

by stwinn

I have been using Epic Steam (from FireFly TV) for quite a while. I like the service. But ever since the big crash of 2019 I have had intermittent problems.

Setup: Kodi on LibreElec and Kodi on Windows (PVR IPTV Simple Client)

Issue: Everything working fine, then every other day or so all the channels disappear. Nothing in the Simple Client.

To fix the issue I have to go to the client config and restart the service then restart the client. But this doesn't always work.

Sometimes it will load the guide/channels after 3 or 4 restarts sometimes it won't.

I will have to leave it for a day then try again and then it loads. This has been going on for months.

So in effect, I can watch TV every other day.

I also have the Epic Stream app running on my Fire TV. This Works. However, the interface is not as good as Simple Client and the channels seem to buffer a lot more.

Has anybody else experienced this issue of channels/guide randomly loading/disappearing?

Is there a fix to this issue?

If not I will have to look for a new service.

Thanks

I use Epic as well on LibreElec, and they have been doing some maintenance fairly frequently since the panel issues/migration. I don't see the issues you are seeing though unless it's during the maintenance window. It sounds like it's a client side issue to me, if it's happening on two clients maybe it's a network issue on your side? If I ever run into issues with Epic I usually clear the cache and it works after that. Now one thing I will say is I have used numerous IPTV clients and when running on Kodi I see the same types of issues across the board. I also use IPTV clients on windows outside of Kodi and I rarely see these types of issues.

do you have Cache m3u in simple iptv config enabled?

For the epic app, make sure you have decoder set to hardware and using vlc player.
