People Who Use IPTV, What Do You Use It For?

by KidsInMyBasement_25

Most TV shows are available earlier if you torrented it, due to the networks putting it on their website before air time, it even has the ads cut out.

So, why bother paying for IPTV?

Plex also exists, and automatic downloaders like Sonarr exist, I just feel like IPTV is too much of a hassle.

Edit:

Anybody who doesn't want to read comments: Sport, news, ppv seems to be the biggest reason.

holymacrami

IPTV is live tv. Opposed to waiting for it. You watch it live.

SaggyAction

Mainly for being able to watch content from other countries that you couldn't find anywhere else (pay site / torrents / etc).....like local news, shows, sports, and so on.

Live sports (rugby mostly) is my reasoning. My provider has RugbyPass so I can catch games not on BT Sport.

Average person doesn't even know what torrents are or if they did how to access them

Richiepunx

Literally only sports and something for the kids the odd time.

I don't live in n UK, but my preference for live TV is UK channels. Simple as that.

Also, 24/7 channels. Some times I just want to binge watch my favourite shows.

Recording and keeping content nobody else would bother uploading anywhere. Might be news clips, one guest on a daytime talk show, etc. Have been spending more time surfing euro stations than US lately. Agreed that's it's usually better to download content that's popular enough to wind up on usenet, torrents, or file lockers.

Mainly because it’s easy and inexpensive access to live content that I’d probably have to search a few minutes to find via torrents. Especially easy to bookmark channels for family members that wouldn’t care to use torrents. So, I understand where you’re coming from that things can be done for free, but for less than $50 a year I have far less headaches giving the people what they want in a timely fashion .

I use iptv because my parents are from other country, and they want to have channels from 2 country's, also we like to watch sports, but in greece one provider has champions league and the other has greek league, with iptv i can have all in one

Mainly for sports and news channels, and them kids shows, IPTV usually has a wide variety of children friendly channels, keeps my kids entertained for hrs,. Can't really find that package with the cable companies, they want to sell you this package with that package and before you know it, your bill is $100+ smh Everything else I watch on streaming apps.

I don't use IPTV (yet, exploring it, but mostly b/c I really want access to international channels). I am also a YouTubeTV subscriber, which I'm keeping since I have family members who use it and really like it, and it's currently worth the $50 a mo/ to have 6 family members on, multiple devices, with unlimited cloud DVR.

However, what you mentioned about torrenting, I've almost never seen TV shows available earlier, at least the ones I watch. I actually signed up for YouTubeTV to begin with specifically b/c I wanted to watch Mr. Robot live, and couldn't wait even an hour for it to be over to get some type of access to it. I guess it's a rare case that I'd feel that way for any other show, but I was just surprised to see you find tv shows available on torrents earlier. Is it consistently the case?

I am looking into plex though also for VOD since Netflix lost friends, is losing the office, etc. Do you use Plex? I'm looking into whether I should set up my own server or join a plexshare.

It is crazy though, I'm subscribed to about 4 different streaming services now, it was 5, I Just cancelled HBO. Starting to actually be as much as a cable bill, lol. But I am paying for convenience, really. Not sure IPTV will offer that, but again, I am more interested in being able to get whatever content I want, when I want.
