New to IPTV not having good experience.. Wondering if this is normal?

by IslandParadise82

I should start by saying I live in a rural location in Ontario Canada. I have no issue with running Netflix in standard def, 720p. Netflix standard def uses about 5mbit/sec. My internet is mobile but is supposed to get upto 25mbit/sec.

I setup XtremeStream using their APK on my android box. The guide and everything worked fine at first but when I went to use it later that night it kept buffering.. I tried closing the app and clearing cache and still issues. It buffered every few seconds or didn't work at all for some channels..

I guess I'm wondering if this happens occasionally or do I need to find an IPTV service closer to my location?

First of all your mobile/internet provider probably hosts local netflix cache servers, and netflix can adjust quality dynamically on the fly according to your connection. So it is a bit different than a stream the provides a steady bitrate.

Are you tethering your android box to your mobile device? Probably resulting in a high lag/poor connection. Try a trial somewhere else, and if that is having problems too it is most likely due to your setup.

I tried a mobile hotspot w IPTV before, it wasn’t suited for it. Channels had to be SD for it to work somewhat, and even then I got a lot of buffering.

Look for a provider with sd channels. 25mbit is ok but mobile introduces a lot of variables and interference. Use something like analiti a few times to see how your speed fluctuates. Not a lot of bandwidth up there.

Might be an idea to get a trial with another provider maybe for 24 hours or so to test if its the provider.

Did you do your speed test at the same time you were experiencing the buffering? Also netflix has the ability to lower the movie quailty untill the movie plays. Down to 240p if need be.

Check your connection using testmy.net when you're getting the buffering. You can check speed as well as latency/stability. I consistently get slightly more than the speed I pay for. Latency to a US city 300 miles away is 30ms, most euro countries are 100ms. If my TV is cutting out, I know it's my IPTV provider and not my ISP.

If the provider will let you connect via m3u then you might want to try using an hls stream instead of a ts stream inside a different app.

I also wouldn't expect the compression to be anywhere near as good as netflix and as someone else mentioned netflix have geo-located clusters. So maybe you are just hitting the bandwidth wall.

what part of ontario specifically?

Try ipguys cod123 it's got alot of low bandwidth

I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news but unless your provider is offering you fibre our in rural area this is unobtainable and I would chalk this up to a never going to happen scenario I speak from knowing many of have tried and save you the hours
