There are some IPTV services with PVR function, but more services require additional devices for recording. You can try GTVIPTV, Record Function: Cloud PVR by self Can Save forever.

iMPlayer
I use a Buzz Box connected through MAC and record to an SD card. The only problem is you have to stay on the same channel that you're recording from. It's much easier to just find a provider who offers catch-up
Just get iMPlayer and schedule as many recording as you want!

TVHeadend without doubt, but the setup is hard. But once you have it....heaven
Check out cosmi dvr it's a new app but hopefully with time it will be as good as tivimate as I'm starting to wonder when we will see recording on tivimate
Z8 and external drive or usb but means you need to get yourself another box :(
