The audio out of the HDMI port of my Mag 256 has suddenly stopped working. Video is fine. All settings are as they were before it stopped. I've tried different cables and HDMI ports on the telly as well as a couple of factory resets so I guess it's pointing to a hardware issue with the box. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have you tried by changing HDMI cable as sometime that's may torn off...before doing anything check with that I am saying things with personal experience ( from many customers have similar issues ) and simple fix is change the HDMI cable
Me im more the type of person that can't let something beat him until ive tried to fix it. It the challenge...Rise Kiwi.. lol

Sounds like its the hdmi socket on the mag box. Its not over heating is it? That caused me sound problems and fixed it by re-pasting the cpu and drilling holes in the top to let out the heat. But it fixed it. Open it up if (it's out of warranty) ans see if you can see anything wrong like cracks on the board, burn marks to indicate something has burnt out. Or even broken solder points or loose solder points were they break away from the board.
