Introducing CosmiDVR For Android TV OS

by Dean_CQ

Hello Everyone,

I'm Dean, the developer of CosmiDVR and I would like to introduce myself and my app to this great Community.

CosmiDVR is not a stand alone IPTV app, it integrates with the Live Channels app, and works only on Android TV OS.

I created CosmiDVR because I couldn't find an IPTV app with easy to use Interface that resembles how a cable box works and was simple enough for my 72 years old mother to use to watch her Greek TV channels. She wanted to be able to rewind if she missed something, pause while she is talking on the phone with her friends or record a show and watch it later, the same way her cable box works.

In my opinion the Live Channels app has the easiest to use interface, so instead of re-creating something similar I decided to build an app that adds the features I needed into Live Channels.

With CosmiDVR you get all the great features of Live Channels such as easy to use UI, Modern Looking TV Guide grid, PiP mode and Voice Search, plus the features listed below.

CosmiDVR features:

  • Timeshifting, Rewind/Pause/Forward any live stream (works for m3u8 and mpegts) if you can play the stream then you can use this feature.
  • DVR Recording
  1. Schedule through the guide and record it even if you are not watching TV
  2. Instant record the channel you are watching
  • EPG Auto update with the ability to manually refresh or set frequency
  • Multiple providers and playlist support
  • Multiple EPG Sources per playlist or provider
  • Favorites Section
  • Select the categories you want to import
  • Home Screen Integration with Favorites and Featured Channels with live preview
  • Edit/Fix TVGuide tags per channel in order to fix any EPG/Guide issues

And more features coming soon.

You can try all the features for Free, there is no subscription but there is a Lifetime price of $19.99 for Premium and you can install it on all your Android TV OS devices.

For "How To" Videos, please check the CosmiDVR YouTube Channel , I'll be adding more videos soon.

Here is the Google Play Page

My account is not old enough yet to create a group on reddit for CosmiDVR, so for any questions, suggestion or requests you can either use the CosmiDVR Issues on GitHub or email me in the support email address you can find in the Google Play page , and while you are there, if you like the app then post a review.

I hope you like CosmiDVR and it becomes one of your favorite apps.

Thank you,

Dean

Hey Dean,

I can't use it, since it expects a .m3u link, but my file gets generated from

" xxxxx/&output=ts&type=m3u_plus"

So I can't use it, I think most providers deliver their M3U files like this, any way you could adjust and allow this?

This looks amazing! Very excited to try this out on the ShieldTV. What features are premium only? I will most likely buy the lifetime because it's worth it, but curious what features are not included with free version. Thanks again!

TheRaven75au

For the lifetime fee how many or our devices can we install it on?

DreadMcLaren

This looks very nice, great work.

I'm sure this is a unpopular opinion, but I wish we could get more options like this for Apple tvOS.

Skyscreamers

You jsut need more karma and then you can create you own sub Reddit, looks promising friend.

Hey there.

First of all, nice work. Good to see a few options which enable the Live Channels app to work seamlessly.

Secondly, the 50GB limit for DVR - there's another app which doesn't have this restriction. Can you look into removing this limit? PVRLive is the other app I'm talking about.

And lastly, your add-on doesn't support subtitle decoding, correct? I used it yesterday (and realize my 1 out of 14 days of free usage is up).

Could you look into adding these two amendments, please?

Totimoshi

I can't seem to load my EPG. I have two sources, one that came with the service and the second paid XMLTV source. I checked both sources and they both work, however when added in the app none of the channels have EPG. When I go to channel options and try to fix the TVGuide tag, the app says "You need a valid XMLTV Source to use this feature".

Otheys

This looks really good.

I tried setting it up with https://www.matthuisman.nz/2019/01/live-au-iptv-channels-on-android.html but it doesn't seem to load the epg or play the channels .

It just sits there saying "syncing channels and TV guide data)

If I try and add just the channel playlist then play the TV channel it errors out saying it cant play stream.

Is it because its an .m3u8 playlist?

satvision83

Your application is based on Live Channels, so it doesn't support separate categories provided from every IPTV provider...sorry to say that, but without this feature it's pretty much useless.

itswaa

How do you live record the program that you are watching? Is that not available on basic?

porkpistol86

This only allows m3u logins? Looks amazing!

lazzaro1

What happens if I am already using PVRLive app which also integrates with the Live Channels? I mean, will the channels on my m3u Playlist appear twice on Live Channels app?

Mjbama2010

Looks very nice! We need all the tools we can get

jaltringer

Do we have any updates on this yet?? If so where will you post them??

weasel18

So will this not work with android tv boxes like off Amazon?

avs1232003

Hello,

Seems the app is not geared towards android tv boxes. I tried to download it and got the message that my device is not supported. Any chance you’ll make your Apk available for the mainstream?

weasel18

So I've got it setup and its been working so far. I put in a 128Gb Samsung usd drive and formatted as storage. But I don't have the option to enable the dvr even after a reboot. Its dimmed out in the cosmiDVR app.

Philip7777

Does CosmiDVR auto sync the channels and EPG everyday or do you have go as you do when you enter them the first time?

bshensky

I downloaded CosmiDVR on a recommendation weeks ago but just now tried it out. AMAZEBALLS! How did you figure out the protocol to support Live Channels?

I'm trialing it now to compare with Channels DVR on a home server and its dedicated Android app. Channels is fantastic, but I'm REALLY impressed at how you've deliberately leveraged Live Channels to make this work.

Q: Does your app also work with the Live TV extensions on a Fire TV stick?

So impressed that there's someone out there that understands the IPTV infrastructure enough to realize how elegant a solution this really is.

:-)

This app looks amazing! Is there an option to upload your own vod?

Stevet7

I stumbled across your app while browsing youtube for iptv recorder. I'm trying out now. Recording stops after a few seconds....after reading here looks like it might be a number of connections problem...Other than that prob I love the ease of it....

I'm yet to get a recording. I have 2 connections and get "Failed". and get "error 0" when I've tried to record a show. Sometimes they will last a few seconds up to 2 or 3 minutes...So if I want to record one show on one channel how many connections do I need? Do I have to watch the same channel I'm recording with 2 connections? I'm using Android Box with "Android TV" operating system. 1GB USB Drive. Everything installed smoothly. Anyone know whats going on? Can anyone tell me what action takes a connection?

dtwarnes

Hi Dean, just downloaded to my shield tv and set it up. Only question I have is about the recording storage. I have an sd card on the shield but it's housing my apps. I have tivimate set up as well and have been able to direct recording to my NAS and that's worked well. Is there an option to record to network storage like that in here and if so, where can that be accessed? Thanks!
