IPTV quality

by Cocximus

I am trying to figure out what is the highest video quality one can expect with IPTV. For reference I consider 4k 10mbit good quality. The iptv services I seen are much lower than that. They look like 480p even though they are "hd". So what's the best out there?

The problem is all the good ones are private. Nobody wants to talk about them. Nobody wants to share in fear of it being shut down. There's good ones but they aren't going to be discussed out here and they'll be private to a set number of people.

Pre recorded movies 4k. Pre recorded tv shows 4k if broadcast in that. Otherwise 1080p. Live sports no worse than 60fps 720p. Your standard channels are going to be somewhere between 720 30 to 1080 60. To my knowledge there is no live 4k streaming due to the infrastructure required and budgets allowed. Heck there's barely any live 4k content through the major providers.

720p is about the best you will get. If you are lucky the sport Channels will be 60fps. Some have a few 1080p streams.

How do you get on a private one?

720 is common. There are services out there with some of thier live sports at 1080 @ 60fps. I've seen movie channels like HBO at 1080 @ 30fps but 4k would be a tough find.

For the typical $10-15 a month IPTV service commonly advertised on this sub, the best you are going to get is 720P/60fps at about 5mbps. You will not find anything better.

You do realize that there are currently no OTA channels that broadcast in 4k, right?
