Mibox or firestick?

by yass3r37

Hey guys. I had a mi box which I used a couple of years ago for some iptv + a few other things. Recently hooked it up again and got a new service provider. Honestly hasn't been the best experience. I get auto logged out sometimes with some lags here and there but I like the simplicity and the price range of it.

I'm looking for a new device for my other tv now and I'm not sure if I should get the 4k mi box or if I should get a firestick instead.

Any thoughts?

A couple downsides to the firestick would be compatibility with some apps, you'd need a USB adapter for a wireless keyboard/mouse and an adapter for ethernet (unless your wifi is solid) so the cost starts to climb.

At that point for a similar price you could go with another device that has a better wifi module, USB slots for remotes or external storage, an ethernet port and is more compatible with applications.

When it comes to support you'll want to be able to eliminate potential issues like signal strength and dips in speed when determining whether there's an issue on your side or the providers. That's 1 reason I prefer devices with an ethernet port.

Firesticks also get hot when using multiple adapters and because it sits so close to the back of the TV (which gets hot itself) you may want an extender.

They both do the trick but I'm not sure they're the best options. If you think about the savings that come with cutting the cord the device you choose will pay for itself within a month or 2.

I really like my Fire Stick 4Ks but it depends on your setup.

Ethernet provides the most stable connection but if your WiFi is stable, a FS4k is a solid device.

Partly depends on preference.

If you really want access to Amazon Prime Video, get a firestick.

If you prefer Android TV, get a mibox.

I've gone with the mibox for that reason.

The native Android TV experience is just too good for me, and the apps in the TV version of the Google Play just works really well.

I've had both - and a Nvidia Shield. Gave the Firestick away (2nd gen), Mibox relegated to the spare room. The Shield (2017 version) stopped me looking for devices because ethernet is rock solid. With IPTV over WiFi on these devices, you're never quite sure if problems are WiFi related, CPU, storage or other issues. The Shield works well - see if you can pick up a cheaper older model - maybe second hand.

Just get a Shield and be done with the issues. The money I wasted on things like a Firestick, MiBox and others I regret. I could have just bought a Shield from the get go and avoided issues. It's the best streamer out there.

How do you watch iptv on the shield?
