How to fix constant buffering on Fire Stick?

by jamesc90

Recently bought a fire stick for my room but the streams are constantly buffering, yet on my phone they are fine and in other rooms I can watch for a long time without any sort of interruption.

Is this due to the WiFi reception on the fire stick? If so, would it be worth investing in the Ethernet adapter so I can have a wired connection into my stick?

The wifi module in your phone is likely a lot better than the one in the firestick. An ethernet adapter gives you a fighting chance but a VPN will still slow you down a bit.

Try different servers on the VPN and run speed tests with your iptv off (don't keep testing the service on different servers as some providers have a limit on the amount of I.P's allowed within a 24hr period and some even have a time limit between I.P changes)

Are you using WiFi? If so try connecting to a 5Ghz access point bandwidth might be the issue.

Don’t ever use Kodi on a fire stick, use the 5ghz band of your router, use a dedicated app like tivimate or stbemu. Delete unnecessary things off of your firestick.

Things to do or not to do not concerning the actual firestick, is upgrade your router and modem to a newer one if it’s over a few years old, don’t ever use a vpn unless you are in a country that blocks certain things.

I tried that and it did nothing. It has to do with the VPN. Clear the cache and restart the app then start the VPN. This should help. Are they free apps or paid ones with monthly fees.

Even with 5 bars I've had slow WiFi on certain devices. Try using it beside the router

Nothing but a firestick user. Have upgraded my router and modem to get maximum performance....but I have to say the 2nd generation sticks will still buffer...same 4k stick on the same modem and router...like a different experience. Upgrade to a 4k stick and hardwire for a way better cable like feel

I used lan adapter and it helps i guess.

could get a HDMI extension cable and position the fire stick better or get a better router

I had constant buffering on my Fire stick via WiFi as well and bought a $15 Ethernet adapter on Amazon and it's been going strong for well over a month now. It's literally buffered maybe twice for a grand total of 10 seconds in that time frame.

Get a better streaming device. Firesticks are popular but are low end devices.

It could be your ISP. do you have a plan that has an unlimited bandwidth cap...and unlimited devices connected?
