Google search gave me plenty of results. Is this actually true or just a myth? I am switching to BT as FTTP finally became availalable. Currenty with TT.
Thanks.

BT are shite. If you still can, look elsewhere. Zen FTTP is the best I reckon.
UK users should consider avoiding the big 6 isp's. With a quality ISP like Idnet or AAISP, both refuse to censor anything, both are committed to not throttling anything. With idnet or AAISP you'll never need to use a vpn with iptv (and they are likely to be faster as well).
Depends on the service. Some have worked for me, some haven't.
It's SOP for and ISP to block IPTV. YMMV, FYI.
I use the PIA proxy server, load that into Kodi and then use the IPTV simple client. Works well for me on Virgin Media.
I have BT, the last 3 months or so, haven't been blocked and I watch every week, multiple times a week.
Never had a problem with IPTV on BT, I don't use a VPN, the boxing went down Sunday, which was the first time I noticed an event get interrupted. don't know if that was BT , anyway just switched to another stream within the IPTV all was fine.
Is this actually true or just a myth?
It's not a myth, you may not be impacted by blocking currently. ISPs blocking IPTV services is not as much as an issue as it use to be due to the fact that a lot of the larger IPTV providers no longer exist and actions taken by IPTV services to bypass the blocks.
It actively blocks when the football is on - because of a high court order brought by the PL. But only services that are known, so possibly you won’t be blocked.
If you are, then a VPN is required
