XC settings for catch-up

by Qnyx83

Hey there,

Hopefully you can help me out with a question that's been bugging me for a while and that I'm having a discussion with my IPTV provider regarding catch-up. The provider says he's using XC portal and according to him it's not possible to catch up live-tv while it's still running and the file is only available only after the program ends. However, that is certainly not the case for me all the time and I'm thinking a setting exists that could prolong it.

Here is the basic idea: for tv programs that have recently started and have a duration up to 60 minutes, it is possible to go back to the start of the program. Let's say 20 minutes have passed, you go in the catch-up for the TV guide (i'm using tvip 605 box) , start the program and it shows 20 minutes total duration. After these 20 minutes, you have to restart the show and it'll have a duration of 40 minutes - you get the idea.
However, for programs longer than 60 minutes that isn't possible and at no point until the end of the program is it possible to start from the beginning.

According to the provider, this is not even possible to do in XC and it's an "anomaly". I am strongly convinced that it's possible to tweak and allow for programs longer than 60 minutes to start.

Who is right here? If it's me - what is the setting to be changed server-side to change this?

Thank you!

Your provider is right.

It is possible if the provider supports cloud time shift.

What you want is dependent on the app. A box like formuler and buztv supports cloud time shift. Stbemu can also do that sort of.

Nothing your provide can do on their end.

On tivimate I can restart any live program as long as the channel supports catch-up.

Thank you for the answers!
I was aware for Android boxes (with tivimate etc. app used), however I was wondering about linux based ones, but as per your comments it seems like it's not possible. I guess I'll have to swap back at some point to Android.
