Ethernet or WiFi fire stick

by sunorip

My internet speed on WiFi is 250 megs a sec but I still get some buffering issues. My router is about 3 inches away from the fire stick. I was considering getting an Ethernet Adaptor to directly connect into the fire stick. Does anyone think this will help my buffering issues?

I would always go for hardwire if possible when it comes to streaming. It takes out the guess work for Wifi. I have had issues with wifi connectivity with a router right beside the device. Walk 20 feet away, full bars and access.

250 megs is more than enough for streaming. Is it the speed you're getting using speed tests or is it a number given to you by your ISP?

yeah Ethernet is way better. My buffering issues disappeared once i switched to ethernet. I found my fire tv would only connect to the wireless a/c on certain bandwidth channels and I had to program my modem router to only use this x channel. This was affecting my other devices so i switched to ethernet.

Thanks for feedback I’m thinking it’s the IPTV app I’m using maybe I’ll look for a better service since my speed is good. I mean it COULD be the WiFi interference even tho speed is fast

Try changing your wifi connection in the firestick network settings from 2.4 ghz to 5 ghz or visa versa. Phones and tablets in the house can sometimes raise havock with the fire sticks. Give it a try.

Do your speedtest using the Analiti app.

I assume you have 802.11ac Wifi but that speedtest will tell you what's happening.

Buffering has a myriad of causes and if your bandwidth is sufficient, it normally isn't one of them.

Can I contact "AmCanBlues"? and if I can how I do that?

Some of the variables that come in to play when you complain about your cost effective subscription!

Localities! Geo blocks? Government blocks?

LAN is rubbish! Too many poor cables! (Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6 ... eg) Too many poor routers! (Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6 ... eg) Too many poor modems! (Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6 ... eg) Too many poor variables! (Only as fast as your slowest component)

YOUR DEVICE! Is probably a pile of crap! Slow device! Too much shit on your device and you're not looking after it! (Only as fast as your weakest component)

WiFi is rubbish! Too many poor routers! (2.4g b,g or n) Too many 2.4g device's in your house! (2.4g noise) Too far away! (Poor WiFi) Not close enough for 5g! Not using 5g! (Only as fast as your slowest component)

ISP! SLOW CONNECTIONS! (Sub 25 meg) ISP bandwidth throttling reasons... (Using too much data too quickly) (Using too much data, you have a cap) (They can see you are streaming "THE BIG GAME AND "WILL" SLOW YOU")

VPN connection is probably shite! Are you even using a VPN? Pay for a VPN! Are you are using a free VPN? Are you connecting to a local address?

WHERE IS YOUR VPN SOFTWARE? On the device you are streaming from? On a VERY low powered/spec router? How many other VPN users are connected?

IPTV APP/ SOFTWARE! (Far too many to count, all the different platforms and variables to moan about)

EPG! (Far too many to count over all the different platforms, regarding apps & software)

IPTV SERVER! Too many people Connecting! Servers not up to demand! Shit server?

Look at your set-up, then address the variables that need looking at.

Turn ALL of your set-up off and restart, and only then ..... you can feel justified complaining about your IPTV service IMO!

Hope this helps
