VPN approach for IPTV - Same Country or Different?

by innocuouslyguy

Just wanted to check what you guys do in terms of VPN links. Do you connect to a provider in the same country as you, or select another country which has more favourable laws? I am in the UK, but the connections to the Netherlands are pretty decent?

It is a balancing act of connection speed vs risk of authorities forcing an IP addresses request from VPN Suppliers.

Use a VPN like Mullvad, which keeps no logs or records. You don't even have to sign up / pay using your real name.

It’s best practice to connect to a VPN server outside of the 5 Eyes countries like the UK for one with more relaxed laws like Sweden, Switzerland, etc (if you can do it and not have connection/buffering issues). I still doubt that if you connect to a VPN (say in the UK) the police would go through all the hassle of going after end users through the VPN service.(In the US for example they would have to get a subpoena to give the VPN company to even get access to any logs). They’re most interested in the providers and resellers. So realistically I personally don’t worry about it but it’s always safer to connect to a no log server if you can do it without causing buffering. I'm in the UK and was always fine when connecting to a UK server.

If you have Nord or Express VPN the authorities can pound sand up their ass, they don't keep logs
