Firestick Alternatives

by dev_lad

Been using my amazon firestick for about six months now, have a solid IPTV with its own apk which runs perfect, and I have Cinema with RD working fine as well.

However, I recently noticed that large RD files or UHD streams really struggle to load, lots of stop start. Decided to run a speed test on the firestick itself, came in at 25mbps download speed. I have 500mbps fiber which runs at 350-400 through a VPN on 5ghz WiFi which the firestick is connected to but I'm getting no where near the speeds.

The router is beside the TV so I'm looking for a box that has a lan port so I can plug straight in to get the most of my speeds.

I've seen a lot of talk about shields but no one has ever explained the full features and capabilities compared to a firestick, and I know there's websites out there but nearly all of them are linked to a specific box that they're trying to sell so I'm looking for real evidence here.

Gimme the suggestions and why it's better than a firestick! Muchas gracias

Stop wasting your money and just go to a Shield Pro and be done with it

The fire stick WiFi is a terrible product :/ I don’t know what chip they are using but it is awful

I have the old Firestick and the new 4K firestick and the older one has better distance and speed than the new one. So what I did was buy a Ethernet adaptor for the firestick and I got my subscribed speed and steady connection. Have no issues now. Just a suggestion.

You should never plug your Fire Stick directly into the back of your TV, especially a TV that is in a corner or against a wall. TV's have a magnetic field that can block wifi signals, even if the router is just a few feet away.

Simply getting an HDMI extension cable or an hdmi female to female adapter could completely solve your issues. Plug your Hdmi cable into your TV then plug the Fire Stick into the other end of the cable and place the Fire Stick in front of your tv in an open area.

It may just also be the Fire Stick. I use a second gen Fire TV box connected to Ethernet and I cannot play any of the large 1080p, 720p Rapidgator streams on it. I have to scroll down the the smaller files.
