In Canada do you think we need VPN for IPTV?

by Truzeus

I have VPN and it doesn't matter which VPN provider/app I find that many times on the firestick it doesn't do the initial connection and I then realize I've been streaming a full day without VPN.

Aside from being "anonymous" I have no other need for it. I'm not throttled and I don't need to mask my location to get other channels.

Should I be worried in Canada to stream IPTV? If so I need to figureout how to get the apps to actually load when it starts.

Thanks!

I don’t think so personally. We have no legal liability and your ISP isn’t going to be monitoring what you’re doing. For myself I found VPN made for a less stable stream. I have a VPN but don’t use it for my IPTV.

I never used a VPN. been doing this over 10 years. I know so many ppl that are doing this, and no one has ever said they use a VPN.

Should you be worried that your ISP can (if they want to) be able to log and report on your illegal activities? Be able to tell what you're doing and if they so choose or are ordered to can log your activity to be used against you in a court of law?

I'm not a lawyer but it seems to me that adding an extra layer of encryption and anonymity to your illegal activities is probably a good idea.

Now, if you don't care about the legal aspect... here's a better reason to use a VPN... ISP's can and usually do throttle the type of traffic used in IPTV streams. It's not something that you might notice right away but trust me if it's a video stream from a non-legitimate source, there is a damn good chance they are going to throttle it. ESPECIALLY if your ISP happens to also carry its own IPTV service. VPN's provide at least some way to make it less obvious and less easy for ISP's to determine what that traffic is and therefore tend to ignore it. They go after the low hanging fruit.

May not be illegal but I believe a VPN likely helps with throttling

I am in the UK and one of my providers recently restricted the use of its service in the UK and a couple of other countries, so now I have to use a vpn to keep it running. I never had to use one before this happened though and never had any issues without a vpn.
