Should I use a VPN for IPTV in the USA?

by mike690011

Help me out I’m debating on if I should get a VPN for my IPTV on my firestick. I’m about to purchase Apollo Group TV and was wondering if I should get a VPN my Internet is xfiniti. I believe some VPN’s don’t work for Apollo Groip TV. I’m based in the USA please help me out. I don’t want my internet to be throttled down!

Unless it is torrent based, I do not bother. Downloading is generally ok. Uploading needs a VPN. Trust me I'm an internet lawyer.

Don't bother..it's a waist. It won't do much at all to protect your anonymity. People get confused due to torrenting where it does provide some help.

  1. Unlike torrenting where you connect to a swarm and anyone else also connecting can harvest IP address, IPTV is point to point connection. Unless someone is sniffing you specifically, nobody will know. Your ISP will know if they want to know but again, they would have to target you specifically and most ISPs won't do a thing that costs them money unless told by a court order.

  2. Even if somebody collects your IP address, it really means nothing in the long run, it's already been established at least in the US, that an IP does not equal a person. So it's not a big deal.

  3. People that have been targeted by extortion letters have been done so because they got caught by their payment method. They paid by using something like paypal or credit cards with their true identities. A law firm having a copy of your paypal or credit card transaction now has something to actually prove that you paid for the illegal service. Now they have something they can use in a court if it comes to that not just a flimsy IP address that changes, can be spoofed or hacked. If there is anything you want to protect is this, how you pay for your service because that can easily be traced back to you and is valid proof.

Your not going to get into trouble in the US . But I just use a VPN so my ISP doesn't know what I'm doing. It's better if you have a VPN router.

I think in the grand scheme of things it’s best to use a VPN. People say “no don’t bother” but it’s just an extra level of comfort knowing that it helps mask you. But it’s really up to you.
