Getting started with IPTV

by sulliv16

Hey I just found out about this sub tonight and have been looking to get into IPTV. Should I just get a Nvidia Shield or does anyone else have any recommendations that works better for you. Also any ideas for some IPTV providers to start looking into would be very helpful! Thanks a lot everyone.

Shield is good, as is the Z8 as their IPtV app is second to none. I just wish they would sell the app to non users of the z8

Any old box will do. Shield is nice, but far from mandatory. Most people already have a box in their homes that can be used for iptv or VOD apps. If you don’t already own anything...ask friends if they have a firestick or android box in a drawer or closet somewhere....that will work for time being.

Now for the reality of iptv . If you’re okay with occasionally being inconvenienced and having to change up something with your account....then iptv is for you. If you want 100% uptime, and as reliable as cable....then probably sling or one of those are for you. Secondly, No one is going to offer up the best service. It pays to keep your mouth shut....because the more people that know....the worse the service will become. So when you find something stable ...definitely keep it to yourself. Find suggestions at r/iptvreviews & r/iptvresellers . Anyways, take care.

You can get by with a firestick especially if you're getting your feet wet.

Hey dude,

So you basically need a device to watch it on, an app and a subscription (sub).

There are lots of options for each!!

In most people's eyes the cream of the crop if the Formuler Z8, they are towards the top end of the price scale but 100% worth the money, they have their own app built in. You just need a sub.

A cheaper option which are fairly new are the Amiko A6 boxes. You want the top end box really as this closely matches the Z8 but quite a bit cheaper. They are pretty much Chinese replicas of the Z8. Apparently pretty good too. They have their own app.

Mag boxes are for the more hardcore IPTV users but it seems a lot of people shy away from these nowadays. The subs for these devices are tied to that specific device.

Nvidia Shields are top spec hardware but they need an app to watch IPTV on. From what I see too they are towards the top end of the budget. I'd

Firesticks (4k or 2nd Gen) are widely used too. Cheap devices and the 4ks inparticular are pretty quick and do the job really well. Again you need an app and sub with these.

Then there are hundreds of Android boxes out there...they pretty much all need apps installing to watch IPTV! You'd want one with decent hardware though as cheap ones will struggle.

So from the above you kinda want to think how do you want to watch TV....do you want it as a permanent full time kinda cable feel and replacement (Z8, Amiko,Mags) or are you happy just using it for the sports and movies etc and you don't mind waiting a minute or so each time you want to do so (Shields, Firesticks, Android boxes).

So onto apps...most people use IPTV Smarters, Tivimate or Perfect Player from my experience. All have free versions! Smarters works fine for free, the other 2 have limited free capabilities and can be downloaded from your app store (Firesticks and maybe Shields you have to "sideload" but it's super easy to do). A sub will usually work with any app so try a few out see what you like (if you use an app) .

Onto subs...well you're in the right place for that lol it's just a case of getting some trials ! I personally wouldn't pay for a trial . Most trials are limited (no sports) as they tend to get abused lol but some will have sports. Then if you like, you can buy a full sub! I'd likely go for a month first to test it fully then look at going for longer if it works for you!! Some providers/subs are locked to your IP address, some have multiple connections (so perhaps you want it on more than one device?), Some work on just one device, some work anywhere on most devices but for only one connection at a time. Depends on the provider.

Watch out for the bs of "freeze free" or "buffer free" as there as so many components to IPTV it's impossible to guarantee that. So as I said, get some trials in my man!

Happy to help you out with any of the above dude if you need help your advice..goood luck :)

I wanted to wait to get into IPTV until I could get a box that would work just like my PVR. I recently got a Formuler Z8 and it's excellent. Easy to use and attaching a hard drive allows me to freeze live TV, and schedule recordings of upcoming shows and movies. That would be my recommendation.

Look into a Jetstream 4K from Walmart. You'll be surprised how well it works and it won't break the bank.

Yeah, but if I’m gonna get something new I might as well splurge and get either the Nvidia or I am more closer leaning to the Z8 now, the mytvonline app looks good

You can also use a PC\Laptop with a android emulator, or install android on your device.
