Future of IPTV

by iptvman07

With the incoming launch of dazn for 200 new countries, do you guys think IPTV will retract? Obviously there are non-sports users but I'd guess they're the minority it'd certainly have to shrink the market substantially wouldn't it? Here in Spain most of my friends don't bother with IPTV anymore!

Doubt it’ll have much impact on it. If you are someone that strictly uses iptv for sports and fights then yeah you’d be stupid not to switch. $100 a year is cheap af, but I suspect a lot of people are like me and use iptv as a main source of all tv.

Had to google Dazn, sports only iptv, i think we already have one of those here in aus called Kayo.

Sports is not in my interests but im all for more legal iptv services, the more the better.

Still have a spot in my heart for most iptv, love watching south east asian cable tv, better content and less ads than any western countries

Why do you say non-sports IPTV users are not many? Source?

Technically DAZN is a similar form of IPTV but I'll pretend we're comparing apples to apples to answer your question.

Will DAZN shrink the IPTV market? I doubt it. DAZN is only sports and I don't think they even cover boxing, their best draw to date, very well. IPTV is more than sports and for many people, it's a much cheaper solution than cable. In my opinion, DAZN needs to gobble up as much market share as quickly as they can because IPTV services are growing (the lockdowns have led to a huge IPTV migration) and IPTV can do more to meet the market's needs quickly (add VOD, add catch up and recording, EPG, keeps adding more sports, getting cheaper or not adding to the total cost despite expanding its offerings, international channels, etc.). DAZN's primary competition is ESPN+, not IPTV.

DAZN took a huge risk by paying fighters like Canelo and AJ A LOT of money but I do not think they are getting the return on investment that they are hoping for yet. If they keep making moves that put them in debt without growing their subscriber base, I could see DAZN getting acquired or going bankrupt within 5 years. I don't see that issue with IPTV unless legislatures really crack down on it (which is possible, too). Even then, IPTV will likely evolve and find a way to survive.

We never use iptv for sports, we use it to watch foreign TV that we could otherwise not watch in our country

Here in Spain most of my friends don't bother with IPTV anymore!

we actually use it to watch spanish tv, lol

DAZN doesn’t own the rights to any sport in the UK, other than the odd boxing fight. So no.

One ufc ppv per month is worth having iptv

nextman6515

In the UK sky and bt have practically every major event tied up. So no, I don't think Dazn will have any impact on iptv here unless they have billions to throw at a premier league deal and somehow manage to keep subscription costs at Netflix prices. On the other hand, dazn may become more popular as a source feed for iptv.

Your personal feeling is not the feeling of millions of others.

custardy_cream

I use IPTV solely for sports.

Am not sure about this , but how much DAZN will bill users ??? in my case I pay 100$ per year with my iptv service at cloudspal hosting so am sure DAZN will not be that cheap , so in general iptv will stay in the lead ( regarding prices )

Anime1979

Had them for 2 free months and didn't watch much of their stuff. Was disappointed they did not have UFC. I don't watch soccer, so that was moot. Not my cup of tea service I guess...

What is Dazn? Never heard of it.
