Create a custom xmltv?

by Ken0201

OK, I have an xmltv file from my provider. I have no complaints at all with my provider, so please don't send me 50 PM's telling me how great your service is.

My issue is there are a TON of channels that I do not (nor will I ever) have any interest in watching... using simpleiptv on Kodi as my guide.. it can be a little onerous using the guide with all these useless channels... and setting favorites is kinda clunky. Obviously I want the sources to be the ones currently used by my service, I just want to edit out all these useless channels. All the links, threads, etc. I find end up with broken links, etc.. and I end up hitting a dead end.

Any assistance would be appreciated it.

Use m3u4u for trimming down your list and organise it.

M3u4u.com. Can reorder your playlist however you like, hide channels etc

Fair enough. I didn’t realise it worked like that. I just have my favourites and then the groups organised so the ones I never use (mainly US) are at the bottom.

Can understand where you’re coming from though. I like things to be as neat and tidy as they can be. I guess you just take it a little further! 😂

Hope you get it how you like it and it doesn’t take too long! 👍

Xml TV is for Guide and not for the playlist , also if you re-organise your playlist by yourself and use it your channel sources won’t be updated they will be static .. So you better use your normal m3u link and organize your preferred channels in favorites

I was in the same position as yourself using Kodi a while back and wrote a shell script that can strip the channel groups from your providers playlist and create your own. You can schedule it to run on a cron job if you are runnig Kodi on something like a Raspberry Pi.

  • strip_playlist.sh
  • groups.txt - Contain the groups you want. Can also include TV show names and it should cater for them.

I then just used my providers xmltv file as it only matched to the channels in my generated playlist.

The nice thing about scheduling it is you can run it early in the morning and then reload Kodi so it is loaded when you want to use it. Also scheduling and recreating each day will include any new stations added to the groups.

Depending on what platform you are using for your iptv, why not try Tivimate?

You can hide channels, reorder channels, add favourites, reorder groups, delete groups etc til your hearts content.

Not wanting to hijack this topic, but I have a related question.

I'm a reseller for an iptv service,, and have my own panel.

I created a custom m3u but I don't know how I can apply it so that all my subs get that custom list instead of the normal one.

My customers use Xtream login.

Any suggestions are welcome
