How to make your IPTV better

by alton_blair

I have had a plex server for several years. I have also had an android box with perfect player and iptv for years. It has always been kind of a pain to switch back and forth and the info on the menus was spotty at best. I finally after digging around youtube found a tutorial to incorporate IPTV and Plex. I followed it and when I was setting up my virtual DVR I told plex I had local cable. I had to go in and match channels manually. That caused me to eliminate a lot of great channels that my local provider of cable doesn't offer, but in return plex pulls all the info for what's on for a week. I now have a fully functional DVR just like cable. Please delete if this violates any of the rules. I just thought there may be people out there like myself that had never thought about doing this.

Or just use tivimate, much less hassle and you won't lose any channel or epg.

For smoothstreams users, there's a really good guide on their forum on how to set this up

OP should mention you need a Plex pass for it, $

xTeve and PlexTV is pretty limited. As a user of both PLEX and IPTV, I recommend TiviMate for IPTV and PLEX for your PMS. I do still have my IPTV running through xTeve so I can watch remotely using the PLEX app when I’m traveling. The EPG and category options make TiviMate superior as it is. xTeve needing being the middleman is the big downside here. Simple changes like PPV events are a huge hassle.

What does this do that xTeve doesn't?

Implayer can hook up to your plex too. One program, no need to run xteve 24-7 on another device exposed to the internet.

You can also just add it to Jellyfin directly.

This maybe a good integration between Plex and Iptv this could also lead to controlling Plex with HomeKit via homebridge because there is a Plex plugin in Homebridge
