m3u going the way of the dinosaur?

by kzcvtm

I've been with a provider for over two years now, always using m3u to connect. Now, they have disabled both m3u and MAC addresses, presumably to help them avoid ECM's that kill their showing of soccer. You now have to use their app to access. The apps are based on Smarters and Perfect Player apps.

Is this gonna be the new world order for the foreseeable future? I have another provider that has both m3u and proprietary apps.

Inquiring minds want to know.

A lot of times, these providers don't have direct control of the channel streams and therefore don't offer M3U access. Their reasoning makes no sense to me, especially with VPNs involved. I won't pay for a provider who requires me to use their app.

This has been an on and off thing the last couple of years. Some providers totally remove it and keep it like that, some change back and forth and some always keep m3u. The wheel keeps on turning.

Any provider who only offers an app won't get my business. I need to trim the m3u from the 6000 pointless channels down to the 150-200 max I watch.

Also those doing for security is nonsense, all you have to do is wireshark a device watching IPTV and you have the URL, change the user agent in tivimate to smarters of whatever it is and they literally can't tell the difference.

Use m3u4u.com to enter your xtreme codes and it will give you an m3u link
