Mag inferior to 4k Firestick?

by Wandno

Hi Trying to decide between a mag box or 4K firestick.

A friend of mine has a mag322 box he’s had it for around 18 months, it has brilliant catchup/on demand, and it’s live tv/football etc is 99% working, its hardly had a fault in 18 months

Now a few other friends have 4K firesticks and although they work great for a time there service/provider seems to fold or it stops working for a bit? 4K firestick have better hardware but the mag is flawless for him

When searching 4K firesticks, they seem to trump mag boxes Hands down if you search google, yet his mag box is near perfect and a lot of friends have had problems after months with a firestick ?

Really stuck and swaying towards mag but the notion is there dated. Ty

Get a Fomuler z8 box. Best of both worlds. It can handle both m3u and mag/mac services

Had a mag for four years. Once I tried a firestick with TiviMate, I sold all my mags and bought fire sticks.

The reliability and longevity of the service has nothing to do with the actual device that's being used.

If you use the same service on both a MAG box and a firestick there'll be no difference to how long that service lasts.

You can run STBEmu on a firestick and it emulates a MAG box perfectly. MAG boxes have their fans but they are dwindling as they are just not versatile enough.

With a firestick or other android based device you can also run other apps, for example a VPN, which everyone who is using IPTV should be running anyway.

Another advantage of firesticks and android boxes is the price, they undercut MAG boxes massively.

Get a Formuler alpha or z8 if you want MAG ease of use and stability. Formulers UI is way better, especially for catchup. plus you can record. their devices are continually updated/upgraded with new features as well, you wont see that on a mag.

Ideally I would save some money and buy Shield TV pro or 2019 (cylinder), lifetime subscription to Tivimate. Shield products allow for larger access to products, customization, and both local and network storage.

You can configure Tivimate to record via SMB/LAN to your computer as a centralized location. This way you can watch your recording's from any device loaded with Tivimate.

Tivimate also works perfectly on the 4k FS. There is an app that can streamline the FS called debloat, it rids the FS overhead that slows the system down.

At the very least a FS is far more robust then a MAG.
